Sidr Honey Maliki is very rare honey produced by bees that visit only one plant for nectar. The British Standards Institute has classified it as Class AA. Harvested by hand only once a year. It has a wonderful, light flavour, making it delicious on toast, in tea and coffee, and many other uses. It keeps for years when stored in a cool, dark place.
The Middle East has also used it for centuries to treat colds, coughs, skin infections, and even cancer.
This deliciously sweet honey comes from the Sidr tree. A small evergreen tree native to India, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Egypt, Libya, Sudan, and the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula. It is known as "The Honey Tree" because its blooms produce nectar that the local bees collect and make honey from. They store their honey in nests at the foot of the tree. Honey is harvested by cutting the trees and letting the honey drip into containers that are later filtered.
