The Arabic word Qurban (or Korban) refers to sacrifice. The act of Qurban became a religious practice through the obedience of Prophet Abraham to Allah (God).
Muslims commemorate Qurban as a way to commemorate the sacrifice of Prophet Abraham's son to God. But later, a ram replaced the son as a sacrifice.
The Qurban ceremonies are performed during the first three days of the Eidul Adha festival, during which goats, sheep, cows, buffaloes or camels are sacrificed. The meat from these sacrifices is divided into three groups:
